LINEA PICTURA (String Paintings)
This ongoing series, translated as “Line Paintings,” represents a natural evolution of my lost object work..
The key component is the string, which I treat as a drawing tool. The process of creating these pieces is meditative for me, and I aim for the finished works to convey a sense of peace and balance. The underlying paintings are abstract, generally monochromatic color fields in muted tones.
Over these, I carefully place pins through the canvas and stretch strings tautly between them, forming simple geometries that hover just above the surface. The strings cast lovely shadows, adding to the peaceful and balanced effect I hope to achieve.
I typically use drop cloths or repurposed canvases as the foundation, with old house paint for the backgrounds, though I sometimes use store-bought paint when really pursuing a specific color feeling.
